International Yoga Day Celebration Report – St. Monica English Medium School

St. Monica English Medium School celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21 with great enthusiasm and spirit. The event began with a warm welcome extended by the student comperes, followed by the invocation of blessings through a solemn prayer and a soulful prayer song.

To instill a sense of unity and responsibility, the students recited the pledge, and the celebration also took a cheerful moment to wish the birthday students with a birthday song played in their honor.

The program continued with a melodious song by the school choir, setting a joyful tone for the day. This was followed by a Yoga Dance performed by the students, gracefully showcasing the essence of yoga through synchronized movements symbolizing peace, balance, and inner strength.

The Chief Guest for the day was introduced with great respect, followed by a felicitation ceremony conducted by the School Manager Rev. Fr. Melwyn D’Souza and the Month In-charge Teachers. The Chief Guest delivered an enlightening address, emphasizing the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga in daily life. This was followed by a meaningful message from Rev. Fr. Melwyn D’Souza, encouraging students to embrace yoga as a way of life.

The program concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all who made the event successful. The gathering then stood for the School Anthem as a mark of unity and school spirit.

After the formal program, students of Grades 1 to 6 and Grade 10 dispersed to their classrooms, while students of Grades 7, 8, and 9 participated in a practical yoga session, which gave them hands-on experience with basic yoga asanas and breathing techniques.

The event was a perfect blend of culture, discipline, and wellness, reinforcing the message that Yoga is not just exercise, but a journey to self-awareness and inner peace.
